Peng Shepherd: “The Cartographers” In-Person Event
April 18 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Boswell presents an evening with Peng Shepherd, author of The Book of M, winner of the inaugural Neukom Institute Literary Arts Award for speculative fiction and named a best book of the year by Elle, Refinery29, and The Verge. It is also a favorite of Boswell buyer Jason Kennedy. You can register for the in-person event or the virtual broadcast here. For this event, Shepherd will be in conversation with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Jim Higgins.
Her new novel is The Cartographers, an imaginative thriller about a young woman who finds a strange map among her dead father’s belongings – a map that will lead to a dark truth about her family’s history.
#1 bestselling thriller novelist Brad Thor offers: “Peng Shepherd has done it again! The Cartographers is an exquisitely written, brilliantly plotted, absolutely fantastic novel. A story like this reminds us of why we all fell in love with reading to begin with. Be prepared to be swept away on an incredible journey that will stay with you long after you turn the final page.”
Peng Shepherd was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, where she rode horses and trained in classical ballet. She earned her MFA in creative writing from New York University, and has lived in Beijing; London; Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia; and New York City. The Book of M is her first novel.
