Review of Thriller “Stay Close” By Harlan Coben

The new book by Harlan Coben titled “Stay Close” which is also going to be featured as a movie is scheduled for release on March 20, 2012. We took a look at this title recently and here is our take.

A Brief Summary:

This is a story revolving around three main characters: Ray Levine who once was a highly respected photographer until an incident changed his life almost two decades ago. Megan Pierce, a bored suburban wife who has come a long way from an incident that changed her seventeen years ago. And lastly Detective Jack Broome is another main player in the story; he is haunted by a cold-case regarding a family man’s disappearance. The incident took place many years ago but he can’t let it go.

Everyone seems to go on with the different new life: Megan is raising her kids and spends rather quality time with her nice husband Dave; Ray is getting by as a despondent sham paparazzo posing as such for his celebrity craving clients. And Jack is investigating a new case: Digging deeper into the disappearance of Carlton Flynn, the subject of the current case, Jack finds out about other similar husbands-fathers vanishing without a trace. Suddenly the old case comes back to life and the secret of what happened 17 years ago ties these three characters together.

Our Take:

This is a superb stand-alone thriller. The key piece in the story is the incident that happened 17 years ago: This connects different characters in the book together and also keeps the reader absorbed and guessing throughout the book.

The elements of suspense are much more stronger than action pieces in this book so our guess is that it would appeal to the suspense thriller fans. Overall, an entertaining read.

Our Rating: 3.0
